Self-Regulation and Social Skills Courses
We offer two different courses, Brain Defenders and Boiling Point—Adjusting Your Thermostat, aimed at teaching children how to regulate their emotions effectively and practice social learning.
These courses use a flexible lesson structure with open-enrollment, meaning you can join at any time.
Miss a class? No problem! Classes are non-cumulative (meaning each week does not rely on being there the weeks before), and classes run in a repeating cycle.
For example, if you miss the Brain Defenders lesson on Rock-Brain, no worries! Just check the calendar to see when Rock-Brain is running next, and sign up for a class online!

BRAIN DEFENDERS
The Brain Defenders program uses a superhero theme to teach kids about social and emotional concepts such as flexible thinking, how to be part of a group, and social awareness. The program introduces a cast of characters, including the hero Superflex and his enemies, the Unthinkables. Each Unthinkable represents a different social or emotional challenge, such as impulsivity, distraction, or anxiety. Children learn how to use their own “Superflexible” thinking to defeat the Unthinkables and improve their social and emotional skills. The program includes a variety of activities, games, and visual aids to engage children and reinforce the concepts they learn.
Each week, children will learn about a different Unthinkable, and how they can use their Superflex strategies to defeat them! If they complete the lesson, and the homework, they will earn a badge for that Unthinkable. Children will work to earn a badge for each Unthinkable over the 15 lessons, and once they have all 15 they will earn their Superflex Badge!

Boiling Point: Adjusting Your Thermostat
The Boiling Point program teaches children and youth how to identify and understand their emotions and behaviour. It provides them with a range of tools and strategies to regulate their emotions and behaviour effectively. These strategies may include deep breathing, movement activities, sensory tools, problem-solving, and self-reflection.
Each Zone represents being at a different level of energy, and the emotions and behaviour that go with it.
Each week, children will learn about each Zone (Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue), and how to get into and out of each Zone.
Children will work to earn badges by completing classes and homework, with badges for each Zone.
